Here is a start

Greetings,
I need to thank John and Mary. Their visit east brought forth lots of laughs and fun and stories. However, some was disagreement on some of the facts which resulted in a fact finding mission. I stumbled across the Hemet-San Jacinto Genealogical Society and it just so happened their webmaster, Larry Bowles, had completed
the Rufsvold family history back to the early 1700's and the Grinager family back to about 1740 in Norway. I believe that Inga Grinager (2 years older than Grandpa was married to Elmer Rufsvold. So here is the collection of information that they supplied plus a few gems I have gleaned on the way:

  • Grandma was 30 when she was married! Grandpa was 29.
  • Grandpa was inducted into the army in Hillsboro North Dakota on April 3, 1918. They were married on April 6, 1918 in Lincoln County South Dakota
  • Grandpa's army duty was April 3, 1918 to August 19, 1919. He was overseas Sept 20, 1918 to December 4, 1918. He was discharged in Denver as a corporal with a surgeon's certificate of disability 25%.
  • Grandpa's obituary was front page news
So, here are PDF documents that the HSJGS provided me. Let me know if you have any problem openning a link (open with CTRL+click or right click and select option to open). My hope is that we can use this forum to share the family history and stories. Blogging is not something I am familiar with, but it strikes me as something very useful to build the Grinager repository.
Hope to hear from you soon. Sarah Pannill
